Snap-In Dentures:
How to Change Retention Inserts

I understand using this at home form is at my own risk. Any damage caused to my prosthetic by improperly following directions will be my own responsibility and will be subject to additional charges if any repairs are needed at the dentist. I am choosing to switch out my own inserts to avoid the maintenance fees that are required to cover the cost of new retention inserts, the doctor and assistant’s time.
Please follow the directions closely below to order correct parts and ensure safely switching out the retention inserts in your implant retained dentures. These inserts are plastic and tend to wear out over time. These usually stay tight for up to 6 months or a year but do require replacement to ensure proper tight fitting of your implant denture.

Follow the first 4 minutes of this video to understand how to use the locator core tool with the inserts. Always use the lightest retention needed. For example, do not use the heavy retention clear inserts if the red or blue retention inserts give sufficient tightness. The heavier the retention, the harder it is to remove the denture (clear is heaviest, red is lightest). The denture must be removed and not worn throughout the night. Also, the abutments (metal pieces in the mouth) must be brushed in the morning and at night every day at a minimum.
