Volume 14: Implants vs. Bridges

Single Implants vs. Dental Bridges

When a tooth goes missing, two common replacement options are a dental bridge or a single dental implant. While both restore your smile, they work in very different ways.

A dental bridge uses the neighboring teeth as anchors to support the artificial tooth in the middle. This requires reshaping of healthy teeth, which can lead to weakness over time.

A single implant is place directly into the jawbone, as a replacement for the root, as well as the tooth. This method does not require any health teeth to be touched, helping to protect your teeth and your bone health long term.
